Sport Chek Congratulates the Toronto Maple Leafs Seconds After the Win on OUTFRONT Media Digital Screens

Toronto – April 10th, 2017 – Sport Chek leveraged OUTFRONT Media’s entire Toronto digital network to applaud the Toronto Maple Leafs immediately after clinching a spot in the 2017 NHL playoffs. On Saturday, April 8th on Leaf’s home turf, at the moment that the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Pittsburgh Penguins, OUTFRONT Media’s digital platform automatically broadcast the following message sponsored by Sport Chek: CONGRATULATIONS PLAYOFF BOUND!

As a result of Sport Chek’s partnership with OUTFRONT Media, hockey fans across Toronto who were out-of-home during the game were instantaneously alerted to the Toronto Maple Leafs’ win. Over the course of five days, Sport Chek will continue to promote the triumph of this fifth Canadian team to enter the NHL playoffs. The 10 second sponsored message will run on 10' x 20' digital posters, a 14' x 48' digital bulletin and exterior digital displays at Yonge Eglinton Centre; the focal point of one of Toronto’s busiest intersections with daily traffic reaching over 130,000.

Digital advertising allows advertisers such as Forzani (Sport Chek) the power and flexibility to change their messaging based on specific criteria; such as the results of a hockey game. The creative opportunities and potential to inform and engage consumers on the move are boundless with digital out-of-home.

“We applaud Forzani Group for leveraging DOOH’s immediacy and creative flexibility to connect with an important event like the Leafs’ win.  Compelling creative is more effective creative and linking with pivotal moments is an excellent way of making a message more relevant. Well done, thanks for allowing us to be part of it. Go Leafs!” says Michele Erskine, Senior Vice President of Outfront Media Canada.
